If you’ve been on my Instagram or any social media of mine for that matter, you know that I cannot stop talking about Colorado. I mean people are now thinking I’m going to up and move (and they might be right, JK). While being on this trip I thought no better time to test out my newest purchase than Colorado, the Newton Ridge Plus hiking boots by Columbia.
I had recently purchased my first pair of hiking boots. I have been hiking heavier than normal especially these last 2 years and just never got around to buying them. Fast forward to about four months ago, I found these beautiful deep teal Columbia boots and couldn’t help myself. I can see my husband rolling his eyes now and saying, “does everything have to be fashionable?” ,the quick answer is yes. These adorable waterproof suede hiking boots will run you about $100 on the website and I found them for $90 on Amazon, however both are directly from the Columbia store. In my opinion, this price isn’t bad considering normally hiking boots run about $150-200 so I feel like these are a pretty good deal. It is so important to get boots that are comfortable and durable and these babies are it!
The mountain in the pic above is about 11,000 feet above sea level, and I was struggling on this hike to say the least, but I can say these boots really have an amazing grip. It was very wet and easy to slip, not to mention we were hiking literally on a mountain and it was all rocks. I did trip a few times but these boots really deserve the credit when it came to keeping my footing. These boots are made with “Sure Footed” technology, meaning that they have “Responsive, supportive cushioning and super-grippy rubber outsoles are geared for miles over rocks, grass, gravel, and roots”. I personally have weak ankles and virtually no arch in my foot. This makes walking on certain surfaces painful, especially strenuous activities. These boots provided amazing plush and support when going up the mountain. I was in no pain at all!
I have never shopped from Columbia before, they were just one of those outdoor brands that I happened to know. After visiting their website I never knew what a conscious and philanthropic company they were. These boots were made in a factory that benefits the BSR’s HERProject. That means this boot was made in a factory that strives to empower women working in global supply chains, supporting them through health, finance and so on. The Women’s Newton Ridge Plus Waterproof Amped Hiking Boot, gets my stamp of approval. I would definitely recommend to any hiker at any level.
Until Next Time,
